..I hope that there some apple gurus here. Cut to the chase, a co worker has this and wants to sell it. I would like a laptop for my little girl. The price he gave me seems cheap, but then again this is a ten year old lap top. Plus one of the hinges is broken.

I would like this lap top to function as her way to access the Internet, plus play a few flash games. If you guys think that this is too outdated, care to suggest a good product for a 7 year old who is OC savvy?

Don't buy it. It's an Apple product after all, so that says enough.

Buy a cheap (non Apple) computer and put Linux Mint on it. Problem solved.

If it wasn't a G4-based laptop, I'd say it was OK. I'd worry about the lack of any sort of updates for G4-based software, personally.

I'm not sure what I'd look for instead - I've seen Thinkpad T60s with Core 2 Duo chips (so ~4-5 years old?) go relatively cheap, and they'll be robust enough to last a few years yet.
