Can you partition a 200 GB drive into segments to get around the 137 GB limitation

I understand there is a 137 GB HD limitation for Windows 98/Me.
I have a dual boot XP/Me system and I partitioned a 200 GB drive into:
C: 10 GB
D: 5 GB
E: 100 GB
F: 71.2 GB

While everything is fine in XP,

Windows Me sees full C, D, and E but only parts of F (the other parts are gibberish).

So even if you partition the drive into segments, you can only use the first 137 GB on Windows 98/Me?

PS. I do have some kind of a PCI raid card, would that help?

Some Windows update is supposed to fix that, probably a service pack. With the PCI Card, I doubt it would help since it's supposed to be more for RAID meaning two drives in RAID conf. Anyways, do a windows update and see if that helps.

PCI IDE card did help, now the entire F Drive is visible in Windows Me.

So there is
1.) no Windows 98/Me update
or
2.) Drive partitioning

that can get around this problem,

PCI card is the only workaround?

No, The PCI card only has a more recent BIOS for drives then your MB. Sometimes depending on age of MB and manufacturer just flashing your BIOS for your MB is enough.

Hm, this is an nForce2 mobo with 2004 BIOS.

Are you certain that mobos can handle this limitation without a PCI card?

Most motherboards and hard drive controllers can use larger HDs as soon as the bios is updated. Really shouldnt be any different for yours unless there is a hardware limitation. Nforce2 isnt that old compared to large HDs. Try looking at the epox website. That MB revision might not support it.

Remember this is a 9x/Me limitation. Windows XP sees the entire drive just fine.
