depends what you plan to play really, and what video card you get...

is this for HD content? if so that CPU will be fine, but pair it with any NVIDIA 8 series card or ATI 3 series or higher and most work will get done by the GPU instead.

if you get integrated video DO NOT get intel, it sucks! and is useless even for 720p content.

i have an e4400@3ghz on an asus boardx with integrated intel and it stinks!

make sure you get integrated ATI or nvidia video.

was gonna get a 4670 or a 4830 for video down the road..Mostly used for watching hd content..

Intel or AMD, it really doesn't matter much nowaday. I recent just built a new HTPC using Asus P5Q-EM (G45 chipset), I got <5% cpu usage when watching Bluray movies, and have no problem connect it via HDMI to my Onkyo 606 receiver for both stream DTS/DD and LPCM audio. also the new nvidia 9300/9400 chipset is another very good htpc all-in-one onboard solution too!
