free hardware from the big companies

just wondering are the big companies very generous as in kind with their hardware giving away free parts.

Well, it's generally accepted that large companies don't give out free hardware to anyone who asks for it, after all, who would actually buy hardware if they could get it for free.

However, if you're a reviewer for a big computer magazine or website (ie, www.anandtech.com, PC Gamer Magazine, etc), then you can get free hardware upon request for review purposes. However, even in these instances, many companies expect their product back after the review has been completed.
