Hello,

I am using Internet Explorer 6 and I need help connecting to a FTP site directly with a username and I need to know the correct format

I know to access an ftp site I would enter

ftp://site.com

But if I wanted to add a username what would I type? username@ftp://site.com?

I cannot just enter ftp.site.com because it will automatically try and log me in as an anonymous user and the ftp server will reject this

Thanks

it has been a while for me but i think it is something like this

ftp://login:[email protected]

if that doesnt work you can always login as anon and right click and hit login as and it will bring up the login box

hope that helps its been a while since ive used ftp

yup:

ftp://username:password@hostname:port/

ftp colon double front slash username colon password at hostname colon port frontslash.

The only mandatory parts are the ftp:// and the hostname, the username, password, and port are optional, and will default to port 21, and logging in anonymously (failing that, it'll ask for a password).
