Good-Bye Ed...

Pretty sure he still owns it...no idea why you'd think that
The wording of his farewell made it sound like Joe either couldn't afford his services anymore or doesn't want him around anymore for some other reason.
Maybe I read it wrong but that was my impression.

Indeed it is sad that he is leaving. Ed was the front page. Take care.... or better yet come back ;)

I always thought Joe owned OverClockers.com and him and Ed wrote for it

That's what I thought too and that they left the moderating up to others.
Ed will be missed for sure.
I've had his front page set on my favorite listing since the very early P4 days on all my PC's.

Won't be missed

Too be honest I can't say I'll particularly miss Ed's editorials - maybe a year ago but not now.

Don't get me wrong I used to love reading Ed's postings mainly because I disagreed with so many of his 'non overclocking' articles (whoever says everyone must agree is barking!).

However over the past year or so the pathetically anti-apple stance and the offensive anti Arab sentiments was just plain OTT.

Anti-apple and anti-arab ?
Ed ?! Seriously ?!
I always thought he wrote with common sense and cut out the bullcrap that you see from most writers. He dropped the pc ( poltically correct ) talk and called it like it is.

I'm all for dropping PCness (in more ways than one lol!) as I am a self confessed apple fan but I'm also an overclocker.....

My Mac Mini is tricked out with an engineering sample 2.1Ghz merom.

I've also got a wicked PPC G4 450 with oc'ed cpu + mac flashed rad9700... It runs Leopard great (core image + quartz extreme :) It even handles h.264 - BBC iPlayerHD is playable - PPC Altivec rocks - it's damn good for a 9 year old silent ascetically pleasing computer.

Anyways..... back to topic!

Dropping PC speak is all well and good, but like Ed would say 'if the average joe' is reading his recent articles god help us - we'll have a burning at the stake soon. Anti Terror laws in the UK can be turned around on every day citizens.... Ed could theoretically face prison in the uk for 'non PC' writing - http://blogs.telegraph.co.uk/philip...rice_britains_antiterror_laws_tougher_than_us

The land of the free - god us Brits are jealous (well sometimes, maybe!)

I hope he's taking a break, getting life sorted and gaining some idea of self censorship - you never know who's reading and how they interpret it. Hell tone down the articles a bit and I'd like to see him back.

I've been reading the front page since circa 2001, and Ed's articles have always provided an insight that no other writer has really been able to achieve. They're always very realistic, and not hyped-up fanboy articles.

Ed will be sorely missed.

I totally managed to miss this?

Well Ed has my best wishes for whatever future endeavours he chooses to pursue.

Eds articles were real journalism about computing subjects, when most IT journalism is a mix of dubious tabloid material and tech porn.

Good luck Ed! I have always made it point to read the front page whenever I can to find out whats happening in the computer related world!
