Would you know FS2 if I hadn't spelt it out (truth!)

No, but thats only because its not arguably one of the greatest games ever made. Half Life Counter-Strike and Starcraft Broodwar are. Only someone whos been under a rock the last five years wouldnt know the abbreviations SC and CS.

Final Fantasy 2
Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time
Full Throttle
Super Mario Bros.
Counter-Strike

I know I'm forgetting a lot of great games.. That I've spent countless hours playing...

according to your opinion. the thread asked for everyone's input.

Hmm I have a few but only in order of me remembering them:

*StarCraft - This and the expansion. By far the greatest RTS.
*Ultimas 2,4,5, and 6. - Great fun on my old Apple IIe.
*Half-Life - Nuff said.
*Samurai Showdown - Neo Geo game but passed countless hours of college time with my buddies.
*Dragon Warrior and Legend of Zelda - Two of my favorite NES RPGs.
*Duke Nukem 3D - When online gaming was born on the TEN network. Back when you paid $10/month for a chatroom and game servers.
*Doom - duh. This game was SCARY when I first played it. I downloaded it onto 5, 3.5" disks back then. It didn't take long before the entire Computer Science lab was infected. ;)
*Quake - DM and CTF. Don't ya miss that grappling hook?
*Street Fighter II - I loved those nights of being in the 'zone'. 7 or 8 quarters lined up on the machine all waiting to knock me and Sagat off the machine.
*Metroid(s) - Have you played one you didn't like?
*Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries - Good times.
*King's Quest 5 - What I bought to break in the new IBM/PS2 286.

I'm sure there's a few more but these are all great games. To me any ways. They all bring back wonderful memories I've had from growing up to today.

For a slightly different list from those already mentioned...

Doom

Tomb Raider Series

Homeworld

Settlers Series

Fighting Steel

Jane's WWII Fighters

Mech Warrior Series

Giants: Citizen Kabuto

Jane's USAF

IL-2 Sturmovik + Forgotten Battles

"Different Strokes for Different Folks", eh???

Well, hrmm...its a tough one.
Return to Castle Wolfenstein
Wolfenstein 3d

If console games count then the sonic series is the best!!! I just got the classic sonic games for gamecube, its all on one disk. Its pretty cool.

Battlefield 1942
Unreal Tournament
Halflife
Carmageddon 1 & 2
Shadow Warrior - yeah, kinda sucked, but was funny as hell.
Doom 1 & 2

Played Everquest for 2+ years, but would now consider that my mortal enemy of games.

Thats impossible. I doubt theres one person who visited the gaming forum who doesnt know what these abbreviations stand for. Theyre classic games - at least 4yrs old each.

seriously what is so hard about typing out starcraft and counterstrike. I do not want to sit much longer than 5 seconds trying to figure out what OFP, TFC, C2MGE, R6RS are, they are obvious to people to regularly play it but not to me. And contrary to what you say there are people that are members of this forum that do not know what the games CS or SC are. So as a courtesy to readers I would appreciate it if future posts just type it the full name of the game, and please don't be obnoxious about it.

I remember this issue coming up before and someone made a post about the abbreviations and the game names they corrospond to.
