Just because I felt like it, I decided to bench my hard drives and give the results. All drives are PATA. Some drives are tested with a Abit PATA>SATA adapter. So..
Testbed was a stock 2.6ghz P4 on a Abit IC7-G with 1GB Corsair XMS RAM. Fresh install of WXP.
First, Western Digital 7200RPM 120GB 8MB cache.
Advertised specs here.
Actual results:
With Abit PATA>SATA adaptor:
Without adaptor: TO BE UPDATED
Next, we have a WD 7200 RPM 250GB 2MB cache.
Advertised specs here.
Actual results:
Without adaptor:
Lastly, a Maxtor 7200RPM 300GB 16MB cache.
Advertised specs here.
Actual results:
With adapter.
TO COME: I'll pu of a bench of the 120GB WD without adapter. Also I have a shot of that drive in RAID 0 on another PC.
