I have a NETGEAR R6300 and the comcast guy came and said I need to have the router connected between the modem and all the network switches and servers. But now the speed of the connection is only at 54 mbps rather than the 64-175 that I was used to. Is there a way to make the speed faster. I am only using port 1 on the router.

So between the devices on the network you're only getting 54Mbps? Have you looked into MTU (jumbo frame) and manually setting the transfer sepeeds for all wired network devices? Assuming gigabit since you were getting over 100Mbps... sounds like something on the network is only playing at 100Mbps... without having a full visio of the network config I/we can only make wild guesses as to the cause.
