As stupid as this might sound, video drivers do affect your CPU score. Might try another set of video drivers to see if it helps / hurts...

My CPU score went down the higher I clocked my 9800GTX. My overall score went up, but the CPU score went down. I think at stock speeds on the VGA I was hitting 5200 with my CPU and then as my card topped out my CPU score was down to 5000.

Hmm sounds like it should be ok then, it was just my video card.
