FSB Jump? Help OC 3.2ee

Hi im new to the forum :p.

Just wondering if its normal for the FSB to jump around, like right now i have it
on 216 x 16 and i see it go up to 218 then down to 215 then 212 then 222.

It seems a bit weird to me, and also thinking maybe thats the reason why i cant
OC it higher.

Right now i got a 3.2ee clock to 3.45 stable. (only 250mhz increase :( )

That a new EE? Or used? OEM? You sure it wasn't used?
That's a pretty low overclock..what happens when you go higher?
What vcore is it running at, and how high did you push the vcore?
(by all means, try at least 1.55v-- it's within VID spec and 100% Safe).

And about your jumping FSB:
Are you using CPU-Z to see that?
CPU-Z is often very erratic for several minutes right after the system boots, (I see FSB jumping around by as much as 3, until things settle) especially if something is loading the system.

Yup its brand spanking new.

If i oc it to 3.6/3.7 it hangs, reboots or fails pcmark04.

Right now i got the vcore set to 1.6 on 3.45.. if i have set the vcore to 1.55 it
hangs after a few hours.
I set the vcore to 1.75.. just once or twice... maybe 3 times :p but shown no
signs of stability.

I using cpuz. yeh i guess its alright to jump around by 3 but i have mine
sometimes jump up 10 when i set it to 3.6~7 running pcmark04 compression
test.

So its okay for it to be like that?

I asked around in a different forum about my dilemma and they said it could be
my psu. Since i have so much hdd, fans, n crap they claim that I would need a
800w psu?

It doesn't really have to do with watts, it's more the amps on the 3.3+, 5+. 12+ rails. And even then, that is mainly affected by pressy's (but better rails = more stability on all). A good PSU is a MUST for overclocking, i would reccomend a OCZ Powerstream 520, Antec True Power 550, and if you have money (with a EE, i think so) check out PC Power And Cooling PSU's, they are the "best" on the market. And that's a super low clock, hope things get better.

Have you set your ram to ddr400 in the bios?then raise the cpu fsb to keep the ram 1.1 with the cpu.

Well my 12v rails are 24A i think... sumwhere along 20

yup i have set it to ddr400 keeping it on 1:1

Do you have "Spread Spectrum" enabled in your BIOS? If so, disable it and see if that solves your 'problem'.
