I have a p4p800 with 2.8 northwood c stepping running at 250fsb 3.5ghz 1.55v storm g4 cooled.

The max fsb i can get is 256fsb still at 1.55v.
257fsb at any core volts will blue screen loading windows.

Will a 875 chipset like the p4c800 or ic7-max3 allow me to get the fsb higher / i am sure the cpu can go a lot better.
Both the p4c800 and ic7-max3 are for sale in a b-grade section of a online supplier for £50.

ANYTHING is possible. Considering the money for the cost of the new board, even if you did get a few more mHz on the FSB, its still not really worth it. I could be wrong but bang for the buck I think unless you get a FREE or dirt cheap board its not worth it for the gain. Juss my .02c

I can get either a p4c800 dlx or ic7-max 3 for £60 used or a new p4c800 at £110. I keep trying ebay but they always go that bit too high.

I just saw people getting up to 270fsb and with the 2.8 only needing stock core volts though it might have a bit left but like you say is it worth it.

Chances are you ARE limited by your current set up but Im going to say I'll bet the chip is more the limit than the mo board. 3.5 isnt bad for a 2.8 on stock.

The cpu is a SL6Z5 C0 stepping which is know to be a good chip.
I guess it's up to me if i want to spend £60 and the time switching everything over to find out.

I have a p4p800-e dlx and I just had to have a max3, got one. I gained maybe 100mhz in oc boosting me from 4.0 to around 4.1. With the 15 multi of my processor it was an increase 6 fsb. Not worth it, sold the max3 kept the 800-e dlx. I think better cooling will help as much.

I found a max3 2nd hand for £40 and then did a vtt and vdim mod as well as fixing heatsinks to everthing i could.
First i did a fresh install on a spare drive on the p4p800 and then swapped out to the modded max3. Most drivers auto detected i just needed to install the intel drivers and lan drivers again.
After testing the max 3 i found it to be very stable and the system temp was about 6C lower than the p4p800 i guess the heatsinks help a lot plus the cpu temps are better note like the p4p800 with a cpu temp lower than the system temp.

I was using 2x 512 xms 3200 v1.2 on the p4p800 but decided to try 2x256mb xms 3500 v1.1 bh5 with the vdim mod and found i could run at 255fsb 1:1 2.5 227 3.1v. Max stable OC was 270fsb with 1.7v using a 5:4 memory devider and timmings of 22227 i gained over 2000 points in 3dmark2001 se.

I am currently runnigs at 260fsb 5:4 2227 2.8vdim 1.6vcore until i get some new ram.

All i need now is a ct-479 adapter and a bios for the p4p800.

Has anyone flashed a p4p800 with a p4p800 se bios ? would this work as this would allow the ct-479 to work.
