Hi People, i need help please. i am noob in hardware stuff. i recently bought TR 2950x with aorus xtreme and my memory is not running at 3200mhz even though i changed the xmp profile in bios but it is coming to default after few attempts. i updated the bios to latest version. i am running 64gb of ram, same kit twice. in cpu z when i click on memory its showing dual channel but i have 4 dimms and its showing 64gb in system.

G.SKILL 32GB (2 x 16GB) TridentZ RGB 3200 mhz

Can you get it to boot at XMP but drop the frequency to 2933?

i have to check that will do tonight but as far as i remember there is no option to do it, i clicked on it & its showing to select for auto and then it automatically shows 3200mhz but after boot it get back to its normal i guess thats 2133.

Have you tried setting XMP then go to RAM timings and set the first one to CL 16 or you can try disabling geardown mode as well

I tried xmp as you can see in last picture (its showing profile 1) but it automatically reset after saving and exit. What is geardown mode? Where it is located :( sorry for supid questions i am completely new into this.

It should be locared in the RAM timing section. Ryzen automatically set even CAS latency over over 2933 that's why I suggested trying the XMP but manually seeting the speed to 2933. Geardown mode should help you gt around that by disabling it and maybe then the odd CL will work. The only other suggestion would be to set all the timings manually

AFIK it's been there since early Gen1 Ryzen

I downloaded the manuals for both AM4 and TR4 MB's and I don't see anything in the BIOS section on Geardown, got a screen shot of it by chance? I would like to see it.

On ASUS boards it's near the end of the RAM timings in the RAM configuration menu. There's gear down mode and power down mode, RTT, and CAD settings

Now I see :) Thanks, I did not know about that as I don't have a AM4 or TR4 MB, good to know.

i dont know how to do manual tweaking of timing, is there any one having same mobo who can help me? i know i am asking for soo much but really want to utilise my system

If you give me a couple hours I can set up my 1950/Zenith with 3200 at CL14 and post the timings. May not be the same board but should give you a place to start

OK here's my timings for 3200 CL14 in quad channel. You should be able to match the names in BIOS timings and type in the values DRAM at 1.36V

Oh thank you soo much for your time. I am glad you are really willing to help me out. I am using this ram. Cl15 will these setting will be the same for me? 16x2 kit & 16x2 kit total 64gb. IMG-20181228-WA0005.jpg

I did the timing you gave and it was not booting properly so after few try it got booted and dont know how it reverted back to the previous bios. Not the recent one i updated. I set it to 2933mhz and its booting but still not 3200mhz its what i paid for. :(

3200 on TR with 4 x 16 GB sticks is not easy. It could take a lot of tweaking
