I'm working in about a 100 workstation 10 server environment. Our consultant company is strongly suggesting Shavlik for managing windows updates and patches on other software (flash, acrobat, and others).

Is there anything that works about as well that costs the same or less? Or are they pretty much it?

We've been bitten a few times by late patching.

Thanks!

Do you have the licensing to support SCCM in your environment? Although that may be a little overkill. You could always stick with something like WSUS for the windows patching and SolarWinds or I believe pdqdeploy can do the 3rd party stuff.
