want to build an hd dvr

i bought a Hauppauge WinTV-HVR-1250 TV Tuner a while back and like to put it in a stand alone unit specifically made just to recod tv. what else do i need to make this happen? also the biggest resolution it supports is 1080i , can i some how enable it to record 1080p?

other tham ram mobo hdd and case what do i need? what is the cheapest gpu i could use? im hoping someone else has done this. budget about 100. what os should i use? i think i have xp somewhere.

You need a low powered complete PC to do it. Onboard GPU will do since its the tuner doing all the work.

First, if it doesnt support 1080p you cant magically make that happen. Also, your tv(cable) isnt 1080p anyway, only Bluray is so that question isnt exactly valid.
