Now, we have Corsair’s answer to the shortcomings of their original LCLC offering, which comes with a thicker radiator for more area to move heat from it and they have given this new solution a true push-pull dual fan setup for more airflow through the new, thicker radiator. Let’s see if this cooler can outmatch high end air cooling.
When we first talked to Lian Li, they asked us to review a benching station (their PC-Q06, reviewed here). They are not necessarily well known for benching stations, but they are most definitely known for their enclosed cases. Almost every PC builder, modder, and water cooler has seen (and drooled over) their creations. Today we’ll be pouring over one of their newer cases we posted about previously, the PC-X900.
I have seen it talked about on the forums that the Corsair Hydro Series H50 low cost water cooling system is equal or better than high end air, with some heated discussions taking place at time from people arguing for or against that statement. So, since Corsair was kind enough to send us an H50 system for testing, I decided to see if the H50 can equal some of the best air cooling solutions on the market.
Today we will take a high-level look into the world of benchmarking: CPU benchmarks, benchmark tools and much more. Specifically, we will be looking at 12 point scoring benchmarks plus a new addition listed at hwbot.org as well as the more common utilities used for overclocking and submitting scores to their system. We also touch on system information and monitoring programs.
I will be looking at 6 different heat pipe cooling solutions with this review, with retail prices ranging from the mid-$30 range to $100. All have been looked at by other sites at one time or another, but generally are tested on a dedicated test stand setup. I will be a bit different as I am going to test them in a case on a working system and see if any surprises will be found.
Quite a few memory manufacturers have taken advantage of the very strong IMCs (integrated memory controllers) on Intel’s i7 CPUs. Patriot has thrown its hat in the ring with kits as fast as DDR3-2500. Today we’re going to be digging in to their second-highest clocked kit coming in at DDR3-2400 with timings of 9-11-9-27, model # PVV34G2400C9K.
