ADATA Premier SP610 512GB SSD Review

ADATA needs no introduction as they’ve been a well-known name in the memory and storage industry for some time now. Due to the uncertainty surrounding SandForce, we’ve begun to see alternate SSD controllers being used by manufacturers that were once almost exclusively using SandForce controllers. Phison and Silicon Motion are two examples of SSD controllers that might not be well-known, but we are beginning to see them used more often. Today’s review sample utilizes the Silicon Motion (SMI) SM2246EN controller, which will be the first experience we’ve had with this controller.

OCZ ARC 100 240GB SSD Review

It wasn’t that long ago when the future of OCZ was in doubt, which came as sad news to many in the PC enthusiast community. Luckily, almost immediately after filing bankruptcy, they were promptly swooped up by the Toshiba Group. The acquisition seems like a match made in heaven with Toshiba being a worldwide leader and manufacturer of NAND flash. The marriage definitely affords OCZ the opportunity to be much more competitive in the saturated SSD market.

Kingston HyperX Savage 240GB SSD Review

HyperX (a division of Kingston Technologies) lifted the embargo on their new Savage line of SSDs today, and we’re Johnny on the spot with a review on launch day. Meant to be the replacement for the HyperX 3K SSD, the Savage SSDs offer much faster speeds than its predecessor and does away with the SandForce controller in favor of the Phison S10 quad-core controller.

EVGA GTX 960 4GB SuperSC ACX 2.0+ Graphics Card Review

When the NVIDIA GTX 960 GPU was released a couple months ago, almost immediately there were calls from the enthusiast community for a 4 GB version to better support high-resolution and multi-monitor gaming. As a company driven by the needs and wants of the enthusiast community, it’s no surprise EVGA added 4 GB versions to all three of their GTX 960 offerings. Kingston HyperX Predator M.2 PCIe G2 x4 480GB SSD Review

We’re finally beginning to see more manufacturers bring M.2 SSDs to market, and Kingston HyperX now has SATA and PCIe interface units available. The SATA interface M.2 SSDs offer similar performance to the standard 2.5″ design we’ve been using for some time now, but with the advantage of much smaller space requirements. Of course, the most intriguing M.2 interface is PCIe, which promises wicked speeds over and above 1000 MB/s. It’s been seven months since the Haswell-E X99 platform was released to the masses, but their appears to be no end in sight as far as new motherboard options hitting the market. GIGABYTE was kind enough to send along one of their new Champion series motherboards for us to have a look at. USB 3.1 Testing – ASUS Goes All In With USB 3.1 Capable Motherboards

The push is on for motherboard manufacturers to get USB 3.1 capable products to market. ASUS is certainly doing their part as witnessed by their recent refresh to many of their Z97 and X99 motherboards making them USB 3.1 ready. Depending on the motherboard, ASUS will either provide USB 3.1 connectivity built into the motherboard’s rear I/O area or provide a PCI-E expansion card. Additionally, ASUS plans to sell the PCI-E expansion card separately, so people that already own a compatible ASUS motherboard can come along for the ride too.
