Set Voltages to Stun - NE Ohio Meetup Aug 2-5

Set Voltages to Stun!

I am hosting a meetup and subzero benchmarking session at my house in Kent, OH next week. The session starts Thursday August 2nd and ends Sunday August 5th. Anyone is welcome to come lurk, watch our madness, and hang out anytime Thursday thru Saturday - Sunday we'll be winding things down. If you may attend just let me know.

Just to be clear, the main event and the reason for me welcoming people for a meetup, is Turn&Burn. Most of the hardware is his, and he's looking to break global records... I'll be providing some guidance and support, as will Janus67 - but Turn & Burn and breaking records is the main event!

To watch from home, we'll be streaming on the following channels:
http://www.livestream.com/overclockersturnnburn
http://www.livestream.com/overclockers

As for the agenda, we'll be benchmarking anytime we aren't sleeping, and we won't be sleeping much. We'll be eating while standing... We have things to get done.

What hardware are we running?

This post will be updated as the hardware arrives and I get it photographed... I have a couple boxes of goods to open already. And I'm currently binning to sort the good from the bad. But here's a general idea to start:

200L+ of LN2 (this is our capacity, we'll be burning as much as we can Thursday, refilling on Friday)
6x 3770K
1-2x 3930K
4x Radeon 7970
2x GTX 680
1x GTX 580
1x GTX 285
2x Gigabyte Z77-UD5H
1x Gigabyte Z77 G1.Sniper3
1x MSI Z77A-GD65
1x MSI X79A-GD65
2x Asus MVE
1x Asus RIVF
3x+ kits 2400+ rams
3x TEK9 fat
1x F1EE Dark
1x F1 Gemini

Turn & Burn's Benchmark Hitlist

This is the benching venue a 3rd of my garage. There's another 15ft extending out from the table, so I'll probably get another 6ft table so we have more space to bench and prep:

Yup Kent, Ohio (Rootstown, OH actually). I grew up 10 minutes from Southington, in Champion.

More 7970s than that I think. I have two here for mods right now (waiting on parts that are due here tomorrow) that'll be headed that direction

Just a little far for you. That's ok on the chip Kenny - I would have liked to have tried out the 960T, but with the bot rules I couldn't submit them for boints... And with the mountain of hardware, we'll probably be spending the entire weekend focused on doing 3D in 1x and 2x configs.

Wasn't sure if those were on track or not bobn - thanks! Updating 7970 count to 4!

We'll only have 3 GPU pots in attendance (and all tek9 fats I believe), so we'll probably stick to focusing on 1x and 2x configs, which should be enough to keep us busy all weekend with what we have, and shooting for top globals.

I can send the Team Pot along. Not sure it's juicy enough for a 7970 though.

Two out of three are on track. The third is dead. Mortally wounded anyway.
I'm not sure how much life either of these have left in them either as they've spent a fair amount of time at high voltage, both on LN2 and on air. They work right now though

Cool. We'll see if they are handicapped... I'll pre-test them if I have time before the sessions actually starts. The 2 I have here now are brand new in box, so those can be our reference points.

Can't wait to get up there in just over a week!

Will also have a GTX580 and maybe a GTX285 if I can finally get off work early enough to make it to the post office.

Added your GPUs to the list.

I hope you bring that GTX 285, as well as the 580, I think we should be able to put up some decent numbers with those in 3dmark03 for the team cup as well.

I really wish I could make it over there, but working 2 jobs leaves me little free time. I will definitely be tuning in when I have the time. I'll place my bet on 1 dead cpu and 2 dead cards, but let's hope for none.

Our first wager! You sir, are conservative!

If the scores come easily, everything will probably live... If cards aren't benching well, things must die.

If any of you members are close-by and have never seen liquid nitrogen demonstrations,
you need to witness it. It's really awesome.

And yes, they are nuts!

There are two kinds of people, those who do the work, and those who take the credit.
Try to be in the first group; there is less competition there.

1 motherboard down so far... It's not full dead, but the MVE is giving post code 55 if there's a stick of ram in either of the first 2 slots (no dual channel possible). Never even had any ram installed in the 1st slot thats dead. Was running great 2 days ago when I posted sp32m and pifast... It's just been sitting with a fan pointing at it since then.

That's 3 dead Asus Z77 boards for me in the past couple months. Guess I'm doing something right.
