Throw down a couple hundred clams and get something Really Genuinely Good.

Or less! 1000w ~150 after $30 MIR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438010

1300w for 215 after MIR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817438011

1kw platinum for $200: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182274 (I liked the review sample I got on this one. Very nice)

1kw gold for $250, but unf on the review sample. Very very nice piece: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817171078

Or a 1kw platinum from Antec/Delta for $250: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817371060 I'm in love with the HCP series.

If you really want to be nuts, this is probably my second-favorite unit all time: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817194105
Expensive, though.

Sadly my all-time favorite is not sold by Newegg.

I WILL be adding a 4th GPU for mining - No doubt.

But when? God only knows. Could be 4 months later could be a year later....
BUT I hope to revive that old crappy mobo, and tur that into a mining only rig. (cheapy cheap CPU and powered risers this time ;) )

Cheap, cheap PSU's yes, but CPU'S whole other story. Silver, think Sempron or Celeron. Not sure if your old Mobo is blue team or red team. My Sempron is max 45W I believe. And when it idles I'd bet my yate loons draw more juice.

God that was awful. :p

Talk about cheap
TBH I was expecting a loud bang :p

Okay so PSU are expensive as it seems :p
What are your thoughts on running my current PSU and another ~500 watt PSU?

Ya know Dual PSU like most miners out there?
I heard the frozen CPU sells the needed ATX extender that turns on both PSU's at the same time, and the bonus is that frozen CPU takes Bitcoin :D

I assume blue team = Intel and Red = AMD?

If so, team Blue
The i5 in the sig came from that old mobo

For your level of power draw? Not worth it.
2 cheap units are not better than one good unit.

just get a new quality psu. or sell the 6850 and get a new monitor :)

You and that monitor :p
I'll just move my rig the the basement, brand new 30" LCD tv for my. Now that's a monitor :p
For FrozenCPU, I would grab this

Thanks!

Damn, expensive.
I think for now, I'll put the 6850 on the shelf, I mean it's old anyway. I might give it to my brother

What I will do however, is run the 7850 with the 270x mine like a mad man, then buy a PSU over @ frozenCPU since they take Bitcoin.

No rush to put the 6850 back in anyway. (although it would be ideal)

I want to thank everyone for the input on this, and for convincing me 3 GPU + shetty Coolermaster PSU = Kaboom.

This is why I love OCF, great guys always willing to help

does the 6850 even make more money than it costs to run at this point? seems to me like you're just burning electricity.

Yessir, ~ 6 Cents USD after power costs.
Mining Litecoin however, soooo either way it's still profitable.
Not by much though.........

Need a new coin to mine.

You mine and get 6 cents per day?!!!!!!!!!! Wh..... Why?!

Because it's still profit. ;)

That and when BTC hits 600+ USD I'll have more than if I stopped altogether today.

I'm banking on the fact that BTC will rise in value again. (Pretty sure it will)

It ain't my fault mining sucks right now

As little and as pathetic as it is, I'm still mining.
Besides, it heats my room up nicely since it's still cool outside.

What else would I do with my GPU's anyway?

If you're going long term, the only real question profitability wise is whether you mine for coins or just buy them with the cash you'd use for the electricity bill.

You can't calculate profitability any other way IMO, as you aren't selling them every day as you make them.

EDIT: Sell them and put the money into bitcoins? Might be more worthwhile really.

Gotta mine them.

I have NO way of buying Bitcoins, so I don't really have any choice.

If things get very dire, I'll stop no doubt. But that will be when I begin to pay more for power costs. (at this rate, soon)
