Hi

My current Asrock 970 Pro3 R2.0 motherboard keeps sporadically giving me error code 99 (Pci-e error) I have tried reseating my graphics cards but to no avail. My brother has just upgraded his pc and as such we have a Gigabyte 990FXA-D3 motherboard just lying round... would my FX-6300 work in the 990FXA-D3? I have tried looking around but there isn't really an answer anywhere.

It's not on the support list but the 6200 and 81xx are, I'd be surprised if it didn't work, no harm in trying it.

I stand corrected I thought the 6300 was on the list my apologies for the incorrect information OP, TY Mandrake

Don't you mean 990FXA-UD3?

Edit: From the CPU support list: AMD FX-6300 3500MHz 1MBx6 8MB Vishera 32nm C0 95W 5200 F9

Well there is a 990FXA-D3 Whitehawk so that's what I went with.

Ok, I had to do a search for it and FX-6300 is not on the list.

AMD FX-8100 2800MHz 1MBx8 8MB Bulldozer 32nm B2 95W 5200 F4
AMD FX-6200 3800MHz 1MBx6 8MB Bulldozer 32nm B2 125W 5200 F5
AMD FX-6120 3500MHz 1MBx6 8MB Bulldozer 32nm B2 95W 5200 F2
AMD FX-6100 3300MHz 1MBx6 8MB Bulldozer 32nm B2 95W 5200 F4

This MB is discontinued.
You might try updating the BIOS and see if that works.
