AMD APU A8 6600k terribly slow

An A8 6600 clocked at over 4 Ghz with an SSD should be pretty snappy for a web browsing/productivity machine. Running it in a single channel memory configuration is not ideal but if he isn't doing any heavy multitasking or gaming the machine shouldn't be "terribly slow". Something else is going on imho.

Right.
It's pretty silly to blame the CPU in this case when we are talking about opening office programs, and slow startup/shutdown times.
 
I agree. Something else is wrong. I wonder if it has to do with the SSD or the SATA controller.
