An invitation to join a great group of people in an old school game...which can be played for free these days.
If you've heard of AO, skip to "Who".
Anarchy Online is a MMORPG that came onto the scene in 2001. Yeah, I know, thats a long friggin time ago! It was somewhat ground breaking because of its sandbox style character development and Sci-Fi stage. Since its release it has gone through I think 3 major expansions. For info regarding the storyline behind AO, go here. Basically though, Rubi-Ka is a distant planet found to support life. It was settled when Omni-Tek discovered Notum on it. Omni-tek exists to harvest all the notum (similar to the movie Avatar) while the Clan uprising has formed to oppose the evil money grubbing Omni-Tek forces.
The game if difficult compared to many of the MMO's out today. Open skill development means that you can be whatever you want to be, which can also have the effect of making you a gimp, lol. Analytical people tend to enjoy the game for the complexity it offers. It can be daunting learning it all at first, but for those that love a challenge, they love AO.
Word on the street is that AO will be integrating AoC's graphics engine soon but this has been delayed a good 2 years now. Some of us wonder if it will ever arrive. As such, AO's graphics are very outdated, but the graphics aren't why we play. A game with good graphics but poor community is much less fun than a game with poor graphics and awesome community. If you play a game for the graphics, you will probably not like this game.
In 2002, Tribulations formed as a guild on Rubi-Ka 2 in Anarchy Online. Over the next 2 years we grew in size to about 250 active members and were able to do many server firsts, as well as control large plots of lands in Notum Wars. We were a highly regarded guild based around friendship and helping others. It is to this day that a small core group of us still chat on our vent servers whether we're playing a game together or not.
With the launch of Shadowlands expansion, the game was slowly killed. For many of us that had been with the game since launch, SL was the beginning of the end. The orgininal guild went through some name changes and eventually settled as Alpha Omega. This group of people are mostly european players now and the original core has moved on.
Tribulations has decided to form a "Froob" guild. Froob is the term given to players that are playing the free version of the game. Since AO is so old, they have decided to offer the classic version of the game for free. You can add on the expansions if you would like to start paying a fee (15.00/mo). Classic AO is what many of us old schoolers really like. We've decided to start up another org, sister to the continuing "Alpha Omega" org mentioned above and we are recruiting!
Our Org is trying to hit the casual gamers as they call them these days. The fact is, we're older now and can't afford to spend 12-16 hours a day in a game. We are lucky to get 12-16 hours a week! AO is a team MMO though in that teams are often required to do the fun content. Our Org aims to keep a group of people around certain level ranges so that you will always have people to team with, so long as you can make it online for the weekly meetup/leveling events.
We will only be playing content on Rubi-Ka and NOT going into Shadowlands, or any of the Alien stuff. We also request that paying players joining us NOT utilize Shadowlands and Alien invasion perks/skills. If we all used these we would become too powerful for RK and it won't be any fun.
We are for:

The Opportunity to Join Us!

We are for:
- Casual Gamers. (Try to play around 10 hours a week).
- Newbies that want to learn the game.
- Veterans that love the Rubi-Ka content and are willing to put effort into developing and supporting others.
- Froobs only (Free to play). If your account is activated for expansions we ask that the players in our guild not utilize expansion perks. Must be Froob-like.
- Mature and respectful of others.
Next Steps...
- Visit Anarchy-Online.com to setup an account and download the game.
- Create a character on the Rimor dimension (Rubi-Ka 2) and join the clan side.
- Register on Tribulations.org and fill out an org application. Include a time when you will be available in game for a short interview. We want to make sure we'll be a good fit in order to avoid an awkward departure from our guild down the road.
- Alternatively, if you'd like to chat ingame my character name is "Porv".
