Hi everyone, I am new here so please be gentle.

I going to update my computer soon and I need some help. I have decided to buy AMD Phenom 1090T and I need a good motherboard to go with it.
I might overclock it (if I have the time to learn it) so a motherboard with good OC capabilities, Sata3 and USB3 are my only requirements.

All suggestinons will be very nice! :D

i just bought the gig ud5 890fx and the board is amazing iv gotten good benches with it.
the overclocking on it is amazing the bios are much easier and has more features then my asus board. the layout is great and so i the price

Hi Busli! I'm an AMD nub myself, but I wanted to say hello and :welcome: to the OC community.
Have fun with your new gear! :D

Thanks for the warm welcome, I appreciate it! :D

And thank you all for the answers so far. Gonna google some more to find the perfect board! :Þ

:welcome: to OCF!

This is also a great board at a little more reasonable price:

from what I read in reviews if you do buy this one make sure to have a space CPU other than PhII X6 so you can flash the BIOS then your X6 will be recognized. assuming they still selling the older revision (last comment about the X6 was in July! )

I'm middle of shopping around ... I used to buy Gigabyte products but then ... I'm questioning the quality after my last board failed just after the warranty expired by couple months

Five way 890FX comparison

Then I just saw this one. Looks pretty good...

ASRock 890FX Deluxe 4

i wish AMD did give some feedback on ASRock

so here is the list of safe motherboards that should recognize the X6 .make sure to get the right revision

I spin and I spin again and somehow I'm going to end up with Gigabyte again LOL

unless somebody can assure me that ASRock will post my X6 without need of flashing my BIOS

One of the best AMD mobo's out there, completely not worth the money IMO. But if you want to buy the best, then buy the best.

When I upgrade I try to do it with style! :D

EDIT: If I want a cheaper one, should I consider Gigabyte mobo?

Gigabyte GA-880GA-UD3H (super cheap much cheaper than what I saw on MicroCenter)
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128444
$110
no FX though but do you really need that FX chipset?

also this one is 890GX
Gigabyte GA-890GPA-UD3H (I didn't check MicroCenter price)

which means better onboard video, which is kinda looking good if you can't afford a good video card and thinking about buying one later once you get more $$$ also it's a good mobo and support the X6

Truth be told I haven't read about the difference between the chipsets, so I'm not sure what I need. I just want to buy a solid future proof motherboard.
Also I can only buy parts at Microcenter because my parents are going to that store (I don't live in the states)

P.s. If would appreciate it very much if someone had the time to give me the short version of the quality of the different chipsets.

the FX chipsets use the highest quality parts and OC better for the most part, there is a GX model with on board graphics, but it limits you later on for expansion, if you're getting cold feet on the asus, get the gigabyte, can't go wrong with either.

long story short, if you want to OC the best you can, get the FX chipset.

It's not that the chipsets are better or worse quality, it's the other components on the board - especially the power circuitry. 890FX boards generally have the best components but, right now at least, there are some exceptions. The (what I call) low-end 890FX boards probably aren't as good for overclocking as some of the high-end 890GX boards ...

Here is the CPU support list for that ASRock Deluxe 4...

http://www.asrock.com/mb/cpu.asp?Model=890FX Deluxe4

Google is your friend. The X6s are supported.

yea but is that supported right away or after BIOS update?

read where it says "Since BIOS P1.10" is it the one being bought already has that BIOS or not?!?!?! if not you need another CPU just to bootup and FLASH the BIOS = pain in the butt

@Busli
what you can do is ask MicroCenter if they're nice enough to flash the BIOS for you without any extra $$$
