FLG,
Indeed, I have used AC fans ( Comair Rotrons, similar to yours) and have a few suggestions.
I cannibalized an old AT PSU for the power cord connector and on/off switch.
The connector can easily be installed in the backwall of your case and the switch wherever is convenient, but you are also going to want a fan speed controller as those fans are very loud running at full speed.
I used a cheap light dimmer ( under $5) from HomeDepot, which worked fine but caused a lot of hum.
I've read that the more expensive ceiling fan speed controllers (around $20) solve this problem, but can't say for sure as I never tried it. Some of these also have the ability to turn the fans off completely, so you could eliminate the separate on/off switch.
There are definite advantages/disadvantages to using AC fans....
Advantages:
_They can move alot of air at relatively low speeds (my Muffin XLs went from 80 to 109CFM)
_They are independent of your PSU
_They seem to be of much sturdier construction than typical PC fans
Disadvantages:
_ You will need to shoehorn a completely separate wiring loom into your case, and the cable is a lot bigger than 12v wires
_The fan controller is kinda bulky too, you will have to be creative finding a place for it that is not only accessable but clean looking also.
That said, I really liked the performance, and you have the option of leaving the fans running even if the PC itself is not, which can be a good thing especially in the hot summer months.
