A friend of mine cant get the mb leds to change from red(default color) to anything else. hes tried using different versions of the gaming app that msi uses but the led options are still greyed out. hes running the latest bios and software but nothing seems to make a difference.
anyone had an issue like this with this mb?

Does he have anything plugged into the onboard LED connector? Or anothe RGB peripheral like graphics card/memory etc..

nope the only led/rgb he has is the mb. its out of warranty as well. the msi forums are pretty much useless as far as the x99 platform is concerned. essentially if you have a question about something more than a few gens old they wont help.

Maybe he should try the Gaming app that came with the Mobo or something in that time frame

tried that too. even had him roll back his bios at the same time to no avail. everything says software but im beginning to think it may be a hw issue. he should have rmaed it long ago.

Unless there's some type of switch that's been overlooked in the BIOS, I really have no more ideas maxfly. The bright side is he's not stuck with pink ha ha

thanks for the help! hehe fortunately he doesnt mind the red. he is in the process of replacing it with a evga x99 so no more led woes for him.

im pretty sure he tried it but cant be certain. ill hit him up. hopefully he hasnt already installed the new mb.
