This 5 year old Asrock x79 ext4 has been having other issues, in addition to the incorrect time and PSU replacement.....the cursor has been freezing, and the display has been going blank, but not returning with keyboard or mouse activity. A fresh install of Windows 7 is NOT resolving these issues.
5 years is not super old for a motherboard, but this one has been(mostly) running folding@Home 24/7.

UPdate:

This X79 machine has been retired as a folding@home folding rig, the GTX970 has been installed in my Phenom II X4 965 machine. The X79 just has one operating system- Fedora 25 Workstation.

It is no longer experiencing the mouse or display freeze-ups, and the time setting stays set correctly.

I can't see a reason for the above mentioned freeze ups, but will be observing the GTX970's performance with the Phenom II X4 965 machine. If there were an underlying hardware issue, it sure wasn't consistent.
