PCI Express 3.0 GPU work in a PCI Express 2.0?

I just want to check that the MSI HD 7970 Lightning BOOSTED Edition 3072MB will work in PCI-Express 2.0 slots when it says for 3.0 before I buy it.
I have a ASUS Rampage II Gene Motherboard.

GPUs are backwards compatible arent they?

Yup, I run a 7970 PCI-e 3.0 on my 2.0 board, no issues at all!
