All I know, is if the board came in AMD flavor, with waterproofing, and that oled status system, I would pounce lol.
well....IF I had the cash lol.

Well, just about done moving files I need to my secondary SSD, redownloading drivers, and getting ahead in classes, so I can reinstall OS, hopefully tomorrow, barring any other crap my professors toss my way.

I think ASRock did away with the conformal after the Z97 platform. My understanding is they were having issues making repairs for RMA's and was to costly to just keep replacing with new boards. I'll do some quick fact checking and report back in a few.

EDIT:

Asrock did away with Conformal on the Z170 platform. So the Z87, Z97 and X99 all have it. The Z170 does not.

X99 3.1 doesn't have it. Only 1st rev had it.
RMA costs were too high as they had to replace about every motherboard. There are many RMA on higher series boards so I can understand why they made it. Actually they could only protect vrm area and memory slots. Other parts can be easily insulated and in most cases even if there is some water then board won't be damaged, will turn off and will require drying but that's all.

Some manufacturers are using additional fuses or OCP/OVP in more places on the board so even if there is serious leak in water cooling and no conformal then board will survive. ROG boards have that but it's still not 100% safe.
Most motherboards have only protection next to 24 power connector ... and sometimes it's not working :p In all other cases it protects CPU from burning.

These showed up at my house today. Totally unexpected. HUGE thank you out to the kind guy who sent me these just to be nice!

Is this OC Formula as good as I think it should be?
It's a really nice board and the BIOS feels more polished than my Z87. The only thing missing is the conformal coating.

OK Metal, all looks nice but let's see some numbers
Yesterday was the first time I ran it with ln2 and it was ok. My chip hasn't been delidded so I'm not sure what to expect out of it.

Heck, same sorta thing happened to me............but it was a Hamilton Beach coffee maker direct from manufacturer...still have no clue why they sent me it.
Should help me improve my craptacular memspeed sub hehe

 Looks awesome so far! Can't wait to see what you can do with it!

Good to know! This is most likely going to be my go to board again, my Z87 is awesome.

If 1.6V+ was max used in all tests then you still can push it much higher. It should work fine at least till 1.8V on LN2. I was testing 6600K up to ~1.78V on dice and made 5.6GHz+. Let's say not the best chip. All my 4790K or even 2 5820K were better.

Good stuff, definitely some gains over the 4790k, that's pretty obvious.

Looks like 3200 ripjaws V 16-16-16 2x4GB Samsung based. Just guessing as I haven't seen any specs on the screenshots.

With thanks to maddmutt I have a new toy to play with. Got it plugged in and wound up a bit on air. I have to admit I was surprised at the difference between it an the straight 980. This is the KPE and sorry MM the shirt doesn't fit. I can't wait to see what it does colder water next and then the juice. Now all I need is a 5960 to really open it up.

As comparison, this is the 980 at 1733 the Ti is at 1500

^^^^ This is why I was looking for a new home for the KPE as my setup (AMD) could not do true justice to THAT AWESOME CARD
Shawn was offering his older one as collateral just in case he messed up the KPE while benching it :) I told him that I was really not into NVidia cards since ATI had released the 2600xt. So we made a swap and I'm getting his Asus R9 290 Matrix for the KPE :)
I should have held out for a Fury X card as my trade  I know that I could have found someone on here that would have been willing :)

I saw that picture of you at the ComCon and I figured the XXL would fit you better that me since I'm only a L

Yeah 5000pts is just a bit of a difference. The shirt was XL and no way it was going on me. As soon a I put my arms in I knew it was over just not wide enough.
