Linux has gotten a lot better than it used to be and it's fine if you don't use the Nvidia Graphics Cards, How much are you really losing without an Nvidia GC's?
Also, if you used a Sony Playstation you are running Linux.

The MAC OS is also based on Linux (OpenBSD) Google's Android..... and so on.

These are all people who have taken Linux and stabilized it. :)
 
No.... Not really. OpenBSD has been around for longer than linux. I think it's a little more accurate to say that Linux and BSD are box Unix like OS's, they're not the same though....

It's the interfaces that need ot improve in Linux where the consumer is concerned. The underlying architecture is already great.
