Thats something I'm not sure of. I was going to use the console version but I couldn't find it in 6.32 so I'm just using the systray version. I've only been folding around 5 days so I'm a newb as well.

Ok I got the console version working..I think but its not using GPU cycles it shows my GPU is idle but it is using CPU cycles??
What does this mean?

What are you using to monitor everything?
If it says your gpu is idle than it isn't working.
post your log file again and remember to do this

Hope I did that right, still nothing on the GPU but there is on the CPU..

Well ive been playing with the Systray client and it works, but when I try to get the second 9800 card to work it says core is not running now..But the 580GTX is working.
This has wore me out..lol

You need 623 for the 9800. Put it in a different folder( ex. Gpu 1)

Sorry I'm on my phone and not much help right now

Hey Dave! :)

For your GPU clients, you'll want to have two separate folders containing each client; one per GPU. Modify the shortcut for the first client to include "-gpu 0", and then for the second client include "-gpu 1".

Example, change this shortcut: "C:\Users\Dave\FAH\GPU0\GPU.exe"
To show this as the shortcut: "C:\Users\Dave\FAH\GPU0\GPU.exe -gpu 0"

Yes I did that per the instructions but for some reason it didn't take:shrug:

I had this problem when I first started. Make sure you downloaded the right version. If this is for your 580 it should be version 6.32 or higher.

ChasR should be around shortly to give you some better help.

Edit: I also should have mentioned that it downloaded a core 11 WU which doesn't work on Fermi so your gonna have to stop the client and delete the work directory and the queue.dat file and restart. Also add the -verbosity 9 flag so that the diagnostic information is written to it.
I'm new to this so I can't give you to much information but i'll try my best.

Thanks you all been much help.I guess ill stick to the systray client and just the 580 for now it seems to work. But I do want to get the most out of this machine before I build another..
Also I didn't realize keeping the viewer open it slows down the process?

Dave,
If you want to get the 9800 GTX folding using the console client, I'll work with you. You can run the 580 on the systray client and the 9800 on the console client without issue. The 9800 will run either the GPU3 or GPU2 client.

Ok great, will I need an extra monitor to do this?

No you don't need another monitor.
I'm assuming Windows 7
I'm assuming you reinstalled the drivers after you installed the 9800
First create a directory named FAH anywhere except Program Files or Program Files (x86).
Next Create a directory under FAH named GPU 2
Download the 6.23 GPU2 Console Client from here into the GPU 2 directory.
Extract the files into the GPU 2 directory.
Right Click on the executable and create a shortcut.
Add -configonly after the last " in the target box: ...xe" -configonly. Space between " and -
double click on the shortcut which will start the configuration process.
Add the usual user name team number, passkey if you have one, say yes to change advanced options. Change core priority to low, memory to 500 MB, Machine ID to 3 (it has to be different from the other clients), No to a service (for now), yes to disable affinity lock, Use the default on all other items down to extra parameters. There add -gpu 1 -verbosity 9 -forcegpu nvidia_g80 and hit return until the client closes.

On your systray client you will need to add -gpu 0 -verbosity 9 and to be safe in a mixed environment, -forcegpu nvidia_fermi into the extra parameters box of the configuration

Now right click on the FAH executable in the GPU 2 directory and send to desktop (create shortcut). Start the client with the shortcut. You may wish to copy the shortcut to the startup directory so FAH starts with windows.

Ok additional client parameters,im lost with this, what do you mean with default?

You mean add this right?
-gpu 1 -verbosity 9 -forcegpu nvidia_g80

Wow I think it worked, now im showing both GPUs working with EVGA Precision:)
