I am building my first build using crosshair iv formula motherboard, and amd x6. I don't know to much about ram; but someone wants to sell me a set of ram http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820231193 i don't know if they are good let me know guys.

Also why do people only buy 4gb ram for amd 6gb ram is not compatible or something, i was thinking of getting 6gb ram these http://www.newegg.com/Produc/Produc...7365&cm_re=ocz_6gb_ram-_-20-227-365-_-Product.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Intel has triple channel memory so 3x2GB=6GB. AMD only has dual available 2x2GB=4GB. While you can do 6GB, you will populate all 4 slots with different size memory. Populating all 4 slots will stress out your IMC and may limit your overclock.

That ram listed is fine, but I would get something with lower timings.

PS - your second link doesnt work. If its 3 sticks of memory, you do NOT want that for an AMD setup.

but i am getting them for $50 new thats why, well they let me overclock, or just get different ram with low timings could you suggest me some. Also what's so good about low timings thanks for all your help + k.

For $50 they are fine, go for it. You are not going to get a better deal. You can overclock with it, sure.

With AMD chips, their memory controller is actually on the CPU, so tighter timings are quite helpful.

Im also going to be using the Crosshair IV and am trying to make a decision between the corsair dominator or a set of crucial ballistics for the red led but yea tough decision...... heres a link to both

Dominator

Ballistics

i would go for crucial no brainier, just because it's a lot cheaper, also i have been reading that cas latency should be low, better clocking. So crucial well be better than corsair, don't take my word for it, do some research i am still doing mines.
