You dont need to do it then either (R0 many HDD)... each sata port has its own bandwidth.

Really, it was my understanding that they were share like USB. Anyways, the point is correct, isn't it? No need to connect HDD's to sata 3 ports.

Bandwidth isnt shared on SATA ports. Each ports gets its full allotment, yes. The underlying point is correct, yep.

If all drives are working at the same time then integrated controller's bandwidth is actually limiting all drives total bandwidth to ~1GB/s no matter if you have 6x SATA3 ports or 2x SATA3 + 4x SATA2. I don't think you will actually notice this situation on desktop pc especially that everything is buffered.
