Recycle a CDROM and quiet your hard drive – Tord Solheim

Here is my version of the quiet-and-cool hard drive enclosure:

I took the internals out of an old cd-rom player, and the pictures says the rest.

The hard drive already installed and the fan connected to 7 volts:

The foam is for noise reduction in the ventilation ducts.

I switched the fan to a transparent fan with three colored lights, and duct-taped the front to make it air tight:

And, of course, a fanguard:

Result: It cools the harddrive and reduces noise to a minimum. The only major downer is that the LEDs do not glow much at only 7 volts.
