yes id say it should do what your wanting.but id suggest an abit nf7-s rev2 instead of the asus.
ive owned one and like my older 8rda better and i like my nf7-s rev1.2 and my new rev2 alot better than the epox.

id still save a few bucks and get a dlt1700 which will out oc the barton.
 
Welcome to the AMD world! I would agree with death on the Abit and the 1700. But it's good to have a new AMD guy to keep us company
 
Power is power, overclocked or not.

Reliability and heat are completely different matters, of course...
 
What TBred do you have? You should be going much higher if you have a B...

I have been Conservative. I don't want my load temps to go over 45. Right now, running folding @home overnight, when I check in the morning they are at 42. I am going to up it a little more and see how it goes.
