AMD boys welcome a new member

My friend online (one of many...) has been trying to talk me into buying a new AMD chip rather then intel for a while now...

as you can see here

He and intel have helped make my choice

as stated in http://forum.oc-forums.com/vb/showthread.php?s=&threadid=186925 this thread...i'll be getting a 2500+ are my overclocking hopes reasonable?

yes id say it should do what your wanting.but id suggest an abit nf7-s rev2 instead of the asus.
ive owned one and like my older 8rda better and i like my nf7-s rev1.2 and my new rev2 alot better than the epox.

id still save a few bucks and get a dlt1700 which will out oc the barton.

Yea, I love my 1700+. I have OK steppings, and still pushing 2.1ghz with crappy ram and cooling.

Welcome to the AMD world! I would agree with death on the Abit and the 1700. But it's good to have a new AMD guy to keep us company

i've never overclocked before, if i have to not overclock i want raw power....

Reliability and heat are completely different matters, of course...

What TBred do you have? You should be going much higher if you have a B...

I have been Conservative. I don't want my load temps to go over 45. Right now, running folding @home overnight, when I check in the morning they are at 42. I am going to up it a little more and see how it goes.
