burning and sata/pata adapters

I have a bit of a situation where I'm pretty much not going to be able to use my current (pata) burner in my new system, unless I use a sata adapter on it. I'm very fussy about my burn quality - only use taiyo yuden discs, and want to hang onto this burner because it delivers great nero quality test results. Is using an adapter going to potentially screw up the burning process in any way?
