a) the 7/16" tubing fits tighter on the barbs so you've got much less chance of a leak, and b) the smaller tubing is slightly easier to route within the case.

and c) 7/16" matches the ID of most 1/2" hose fittings, providing a smoother flow path.

Make sure to get the 3/32" wall thickness however. Several people posted here after trying to use the 1/16" wall thickness-7/16" ID tubing and it tended to kink a bit too easily.
