I think i messed up , I bought an Abit IC7-max3 motherboard as i was told it would support my 3 CD/DVD rom drives and my 4 IDE 100+ harddisks , i also bought a new 120 gig SATA drive instead of an IDE drive at a recomendation of the sales guy.

The thing is there is on 2 x 2 IDE ports and 6 x SATA ports so i can only run 5 of 8 of my drives.

What i need is a SATA cable coverter to an ATA ribbon , is this possible ?

Any other suggestions ?

Thanks

Richard

Yes it is, but not exactly as u decsribed it. There are a few brands of converters to pick from. Just do a search for SATA + converter.

Heres a link to get you started:

I use this brand and it works fine.

You could also buy an expansion IED controller. Do a search for IDE + card, here is another link:

Or even go RAID if you want. (Expensive and learning curve for four drives) Just search this forum for RAID and it will answer any questions about what that involves.
