Hey,

I am in the process of getting together a list of equipment for a HTPC and was wondering about windows power management. I have several 200-300 HDs that I was going to use but don't want them to be all spinning at one time. Does windows power down drives that aren't in use? I would rather but one 500+ GB drive and just have one running instead of 3+

Thanks

Brad

That is an option in the power management.

Thanks, I didn't know if it just was for the primary or for all.

its for all... your primary will probably never spin down but all the extra drives will spin down as long as there are not any files being used on thoes drives. I do this with my server... i have the storage drive shutdown after 5min.
