Well I am getting older and starting to make a transition from console to PC. I have been thinking of building one for a while and finally got the ok from wifey.. Now I am not biased towards anything or any vender yet. Feel free to rip me but I would prefer you educating me more. Now I am basically going to be doing some video editing, streaming, gaming, general purposes, and uploading. My PC wil be feeding video to my 1080P panny plasma

Due to price efficiency I am choosing to go AMD route

1)GPU-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814121770&Tpk=gtx770

2)CPU-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819113284

3)MB-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131876

4)SSD-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820147247

5)HD/BD-R-http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.1482803

6)PSU-http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139040

7)Case- Cooler Master Haf 912

Any thoughts on if I should change anything around I plan to do some OC'ing and I have not decided on Ram yet

Can you please edit your post and use the little earth button with the link on it to change your links to actual links; and give them relevant alternate text names. Copy/pasting your links isn't exactly ideal.

That said; that's a lot on the board.

You could easily get away with a cheaper board and CPU. Gigabyte 990FXA UD3 and the 8320 will be a better combo in terms of value.

Price efficiency also doesn't really make sense when you can get an i5 4670k + MSI GD45 Gaming or Asus Z87-A for less than your current Crosshair and 8350 setup. Just something to think about.

Do you ever want to go multi-card? If not you can drop that PSU to a 500w ish model; save a few bucks.

Have you already bought the case?

RAM, I'd be looking at any 1600mhzCL9 or 1866mhzCL9 RAM, whatever works best for your setup. 8GB or 16GB depends on your usage. You said video editing but how heavy are we talking? my 8GB rig is generally plenty and I do some of that too.

What's your total budget for the tower? Might be able to make up something alternate.

My brother will be buying me a tower for xmas as well as an cooler.. He said he would spend about $100 on me to help with build, I have also updated links thanks for the info on that lol. I haven't really decided on a budget, but I will only be doing one video card. As far as editing I will be uploading and transferring to youtube for our cod clan. If you have other suggestions I am open to them, and by all means and would love to hear them. I want something that will last at least a few years w/o upgrading.

I would get a Sabertooth instead of the Crosshair and step up to a 250GB 840 EVO.

Edit: For RAM get 2x4GB 1600/1866MHz CL9 1.5V I would suggest something shorter like G.SKILL Ares to make sure you can clear any tower cooler.

what about intell side any ideas on cpu's and mb's? As stated I am a newb and this will be my first build saving money would be a huge plus but I also want it to run like a champ as it wil be replacing my 8 year old imac

Only thing that would come close in price is a 4670k and cheap Z87 board.

Due to the Video work and streaming a AMD set up would be a good way to go JRoX85!!

As i have seen on the AMD Threads it will cut down the time due to using the extra cores.

You could save some money by using this Motherboard and still be able to Overclock your CPU. Also i would consider getting a higher Vram like 3GB or 4GB and at least 384 Bit as well. This would be my 10c ideas for you to look at!!!

With the money saved you can put that towards the GPU Card!!

AJ.

I agree with going the Intel route. Nothing personal agaisnt AMD but Intel is just better right now. I5 4670k with an asrock mb would be my preference. I'm not currently up to date on the vishera, but I think its still not a true 8 core cpu(shared parts). And then I would go with about a 550 watt psu since you will not be doing sli/crossfire. For your application I would stick with 1600mhz cl9 ram as the performance isn't really worth the money if you are trying to keep a budget. And then I agree with the above that you should throw on a better cooler. Something like the cm hyper 212 will suffice.

Chop the PSU down to a CX600 and save a few bucks. Definitely build on the 4670K. It sounds like gaming is one of your priorities. A 4670K and a $130 ASUS Z87-A motherboard are no more expensive than an 8350 on a $220 CHV-Z.

Switch your GPU to a 3GB 7970 or R9 280X. You'll appreciate the extra GB of VRAM very soon, as games are already starting to ask for 3GB cards in their recommended system specs. If you want this system to last a while with no upgrades, definitely get 3GB VRAM minimum.

Get a good CPU cooler for the 4670K. Don't cheap out. A hyper 212 will get you some overclock but if you want a high overclock look at an NHD14 by Noctua.

Right now, from monday to thursday i believe, a i7 4770k is for 200 and a i5 3570k is about 150 at microcenter if you live close to one of course.
