I am new to intel and have a question about applying AS3 on the CPU. I am familiar applying AS3 on Athlon cores, however P4's have a hole and heatspreader.

What area of the P4 should AS3 be applied on? I heard only the area with the engraving needs to be applied? Does anyone know the truth to that?

Thanks.

just apply it over the entire heat spreader... dont worry about the hole u can get some as3 in it u wont hurt it.

The purpose of the hole is to ensure equalization of air pressure above and under the IHS during installation. Otherwise, the epoxy could blow out.

I cover the core fully (thickness should be thick enough so that you can't see the metallic IHS through the paste...
