Hey everyone
I've recently re vamped my older rig since skyrim launched adding some new RAM and a 560 ti to the lot and now i am wanting to overclock my setup.

Currently:
q6600
8 Gb (4x2gb) gskill PI black pc2-6400 ddr2-800
cougar 850 watt PSU
EVGA 750i sli FTW board

I've played with overclocking my old dual core rig before and understand the basics (i think) and from what I have been able to google the q6600 + 750i chip should eaisly be able to reach 3ghz, however I am unable to get it to post with anything over 2740Mhz.

Here's the settings I am running with:
CPU multi= 9x
FSB clock mode= linked
mem ratio= auto

FSB=1218 Mhz
MEM=913.6 Mhz
CPU=2740 Mhz

--Memory timing--
TCL=4
TRCD=4
TRP=4
TRAS=12
CMD=2T

TRRD=4
TRC=27
TWR=6
TWTR=10
TREF=7.8 mirco seconds

--voltages--

vcore=1.3
fsb=1.3
mem=2.1
spp=1.3
nf200=1.2

admittedly I know very little outside general increase fsb and mem freqs to result in a faster overall cpu freq... and increasing voltages can make them more stable, but no voltage changes seem to net me anything above 2.74 ghz and I am at a wall.

any help will be greatly appreciated as I very much want to learn. Thx

The problem is w/ the current DRAM frequency. You have DDR2-800 that's currently running at DDR2-913, which is well above the rated frequency. Try setting FSB - Memory Clock Mode to Unlinked at the current FSB of 304MHz, and change the DRAM frequency to DDR2-800 or lower / MEM (DDR), MHz [800]. Easiest would be to start at a FSB of 333MHz (QDR=1333), Mem Clock unlinked, and a DRAM frequency of 800. Or even 400 x 8 = 3.2GHz, again w/ Mem Clock unlinked, and DRAM frequency at 800.
