Slow Transfer - Mac => PC => Mac

Was like this on my iBook G3, and is the same on my Macbook. The file transfers across the network are SLOW. Incredibly slow. I'm talking, transferring 51mb worth the mp3s is taking me 28 minutes. What. The. Hell.

Can somebody help, please?

This is a common problem, and one you can fix I am sure. I googled this for a friend of mine about a year ago, and we got through it, though it is not fresh in my mind. I think we enabled/disabled appletalk and a few other minor tweaks and BAM- it opened the bottleneck.

AppleTalk is not enabled, PPPoE is not enabled, Proxies are not enabled, I am using a static IP.
