HyperX FURY Pro Gaming Mouse Pad Review

Often times when building a shiny new computer, the smallest of details can be overlooked that make the final product cumbersome or uncomfortable to use. Once a system is built, closed up, and ready to use, there are only three things the user constantly interacts with. Those would be the monitor, keyboard, and the often neglected mouse. Everyone has their favorite mouse for sure; but to get the most from the experience, a good mouse pad is essential. Enter the newly released HyperX Fury Pro Gaming Mouse pad. While advertised as a gaming mouse pad, the different available size options are suitable for just about any scenario. The folks at Kingston HyperX asked us to have a look at this mouse pad and let them know what we think, so let’s get to it.

Specifications and Features

Yes indeed, even a mouse pad has a set of specifications and features you should know about, albeit it’s a short list. The specifications basically boil down to the size, weight, and material of each available mouse pad. The mouse pad Kingston HyperX sent along is the large size, which is roughly 16.5 inches wide and 19.5 inches long. Both the large and extra large mouse pads could easily be called “desk pads” given the real estate they cover. The mouse pad itself is made from high-quality fabric and natural rubber in an effort to make it as comfortable to use as possible. The mouse pad comes with a 2-year warranty and free tech support. I seriously doubt you’ll need the tech support, but the 2-year warranty is nice. Below specifications and features courtesy Kingston HyperX.

Here is what the Kingston HyperX marketing team has to say about the Fury Pro Gaming Mouse Pad.

A surface above the rest.
HyperX™ FURY Pro Gaming Mouse Pad has a high-quality fabric pad that’s soft yet resistant and heat-treated for a controlled glide to put you in the lead, whether you’re a gamer in a death match or a professional racing the clock.

FURY’s natural rubber and cross-weave underside provide padding for your wrist to keep you comfortable and supported and help the pad grip the surface firmly for more stability.

Available in four sizes from 290–900MM wide and 240–420mm high, with 3–4mm pad thickness, HyperX FURY fits any style and space requirement and is a great value that gives you greater surface without a higher cost. The compact sizes are ideal for mobile computing and LAN parties, while the largest size covers a full-sized desk for a smooth work or play surface. It’s easy to roll up or fold and wear-resistant so the pad keeps its shape through epic battles, late-night work sessions and more.

HyperX FURY mouse pad is backed by a two-year warranty and legendary HyperX quality.

Retail Packaging/Product Tour

The HyperX Fury Pro Gaming Mouse Pad comes in an elongated box with the mouse pad rolled up inside. It’s an attractive package that provides all the information you’ll ever want to know about what’s inside.

To give you a sense of the size of this particular offering (the large model), I set a keyboard and mouse on top… Plenty big! There is an attractive HyperX logo on the lower right corner.

The top of the mouse pad is made of high-quality fabric, and we’re not kidding. It’s extremely smooth to the touch, but has the feel of a material that’s not going to wear out any time soon. The natural rubber on the bottom of the mouse pad also exudes a feel of high-quality and will definitely do its job of keeping the mouse pad from sliding around on the surface.

Usability and Final Thoughts

Admittedly, I’ve only used a few enthusiast-level mouse pads over the years, but HyperX Fury Pro easily out does anything I’ve used in the past. The mouse glides effortlessly over the surface while providing a soft cushion for your palm. No doubt it will reduce hand and wrist fatigue, especially when using your computer for extended periods of time. While it’s true the sensitivity and precision of a mouse can be fine tuned in various ways, this mouse pad will definitely help with that. Tracking time will be better as well due to the extremely smooth surface and how fast the mouse passes across the surface.

Pricing for the HyperX Fury Pro Gaming Mouse Pad varies depending on the size you choose. Below is the pricing for all four varieties at Newegg. Right now, all four options come with free shipping too.

Small – $9.99
Medium –$12.99
Large – $19.00
X-Large –$29.99

Those prices are more than reasonable considering the quality and size of the mouse pads. If you’re looking for a mouse pad that can hang with you during intense gaming sessions, or just looking for something that provides a comfortable and smooth experience… this is it.

As you stated, a fair amount of interaction with this item and little attention paid to them. The only thing I think might be useful to add to the review is how it fairs after a mountain dew, jack and coke, or scotch gets spilled on it. I would say spills are probably the worst abuse my mouse pad could potentially see.

I do like the size, and I think I will order one. Thanks for the review.

You know what happens when I do that to a mousepad? I buy another! :)

You know what I did after I bought another? Stopped putting drinks by my PC. That never happened again.

At the very least, if you're thirsty, get a water bottle with a pop up spout so if you do drop or knock it over, not much gets spilled.
