Hello

I am building a new system dont know if it should be a Pentium or a Athlon. But i do have $1500 to spend on this system that i am going to build. My question is what kind of motherboard should i buy if i am building a Athlon system or what kind of motherboard should i buy if i am building a Pentium system.?

And if i am going to network my computers i have 1 Pentium system will i be able to network it with my new Athlon system?

Thanks

Well there are a lot of things you could buy. What will the system be used for? I would go with the Athlon ThunderBird if you are going the gaming route. They are better and cheaper than Intel in my opinion. Ok lets start from the begining with the Athlon.

1.33ghz Thunderbird 220.00
Abit Motherboard KT7A Raid 140.00 (Non-Raid 120.00)
Ram 256 PC133 starting at 40.00 for the cheap stuff
Maxtor 40gig 7200rpm HardDrive 122.00
GeForce2 GTS 64meg starting at 200.00(Best for the money)
SoundBlaster Live Value 45.00(Best for the money)
CD Rom 20.00
Good CDRW 150.00
Case and Power Supply 50.00 for a good one
Network Card 15.00

All this for 1000.00 give or take for shipping and handling. Since i have saved you 500.00 can i have it!! :)

Hope this helps you. All the prices i gave you can be founded on www.pricewatch.com

Ghost, You are just a shadow of your former self, try this;
1.33 T-Bird $230
KK 266 R (with Raid) $150
256 PC 133 Crucial Cas 2 $95
IBM Deskstar 75 GXP 45 gig $145 ( Benchmark for all the others)
Ge Force 2 GTS $ 200 +
No need for sound card its built in
CR Rom 56X $40
Plextor 16x/8X/40 $ $200 (best out there)
Case $ 50
Enermax PSU 350 watt $50 ( best also)
Network Card $15
This would really smoke. SB Live is overated.
