Once you have upgraded to Windows 10 you don't even need to insert a product key when you go to do a clean install. Just skip that screen and complete the install. Microsoft servers have a record of that computer as already having been activated for Windows 10 and it will automatically reactivate without having to install a product key.
 
after windows re-install everything seems to be running better. Will keep you updated on the status.
