8800gt, 8800GTS - 3200MHz duel core challenge.

I want to see if this G92 architecture is *that* much better then the old man G80 architecture. So I want to issue a small challenge to owners of the 8800GT who also own a duel core Core2 CPU W/ at-least an 8x multiplier.

To keep the test as even as possible. We will run 3dmark 06 at defaults.

CPU @ 3200MHz - 400FSB with an 8x multiplier. (400x8)

Keep the Ram in a 1:1 so it’s running 800MHz with 4, 4, 4, 12, 2T timing.

Because *most* 8800GT’s I have seen can run 600,650 and 700 core. That’s where the three tests will take place. One of my GTS's is an A3, and it can run 700+ core no problem. thats the card i'm going to be using for the test on my end.

Test 1: 600core W/ linked shaders, Mem @ 900MHz (1800MHz effective)
Test 2: 650core W/ linked shaders, Mem @ 900MHz (1800MHz effective)
Test 3: 700core W/ linked shaders, Mem @ 900HMz (1800MHz effective)

Please post SM2, SM3 and CPU scores along with a screen shot W/ both CPUz and GPUz for verification. You can add the FPS for each individual test, but I don’t think it’s a must.

Example.
Test1: 600/900
SM 2.0: XXXX
SM 3.0: XXXX
CPU: XXXX

/sidenotes. I think this is a good idea. This will help iron a lot of things out. :) I’m on call this week for my job, which puts me working noon to midnight – but w/ luck I’ll have these screenshots posted by Thursday or Friday!

Let the fun begin! :)

Hmmm cool idea i shall see about posting results soon as well with this.

They'll also need an E6600 or higher. I keep getting STOMPED because I only have 2mb of cache.

E6420 has 4meg of cache. But if we can see what the machines run at least if theres one with a 4meg and 2meg cache running the same benches on a similar setup with different cards at least it might get close. It will definatly have to be noted though.

after =Acid Rain= was done playing around with his GT for the night, he helped me out. this should be the opening screen for this thread :) shows some pretty good numbers for both cards. reported info @ 600,650 and 700 core for both. linked shaders W/ mem @ 1000MHz.

Maybe you guys should unlink the shaders on the GTS's so that you can try and match the shader clocks b/n the 2 cards. Might give a better apples-to-apples comparison since you have the core speeds, and memory speeds at the same frequency.

I don't know if the GTS can run 1750 on the shaders, though.

Well the GT can't run 1750 on shaders. Its either 1728 or 1782 is the closest you can get to it. I know theres a 1625 or so though.
