Ya Crosshair V is excellent board to say the least, I see alot of people using alot more voltage for cpunb and vcore then I do and I can get mine to same speed. Its very good overclocking board I just wish i had better cooling like custom water kit... It just never ends lol This is terrible hobby. =)

Yeah, nearly everyone is learning here. Nobody is perfect, after all.
@shata I'll keep you updated. But how do I contact you? E-mail?

I mean don't take my word on it, you break it - its ur fault I don't want to go above 1.52 either but I heard they are ok to 1.55 at very max if you can keep em cold.

They put out alot of heat at 3.86 even, I didn't test my h100 on sempron but on stock cooling my Max load temp was around 55c. Id imagine load on liquid being 40s.

This is my Prime95 test result. Are these times good?

And by the way, how do you overclock CPU-NB? Mine is @ around 2491 MHz.

I am not sure on NB overclocking, I never really mess with it. I know cpunb voltage needs voltage increases sometimes for overclocks and getting ram to be stable. U should probably ask someone that knows more about that.

As far as times not sure, I never benched my sempron.

OK...my budget is tight at the moment, so zero chances of new hardware. :-/ I'm just trying to squeeze out as much as I can. :rain:
AMD FX...

These are very fun chips and they scale so well with temperatures. If you have the option they positively scream for dry ice and liquid nitrogen. Interesting seeing you guys push them on the stock cooler though. I'm used to slamming 1.9v+ into them albeit at -190 Celsius :) So easy to forget there is another world out there on air coolers.

1.9v damn... Thats alot. Yeah Reason I did mine is it was temp cpu to get my pc going cause I didnt have money to drop into 1100T at time. But it was fun pushing it to limit without really spending money..lapping cpu and heatsink. If it breaks o well u know.

Wish I could get my hands on some LN.

My $37 Sempron 140 Overclocked to 3.5ghz (and unlocked 2nd core) is faster than my $400 Intel E5530, lol.

Here are my observations using about 4 different Sempron 140 chips and 2 motherboards (Asus Sabertooth 990FX and MSI 890FXA-GD70). Asus Sabertooth 990FX is a very easy board to overclock with and both boards can overclock pretty well.

MSI had problems unlocking 2nd core.

  • Sabertooth - ALL 4 chips unlocked 2nd Core to Athlon X2 4400e. The MSI board, only 1 of them unlocked.
  • Bumped up to 3.1ghz with built in "automatic" overclocker.
  • Manually setting just the FSB can get you an easy 3.52ghz and everything else stock.
  • Slight Voltage Tweaking can get you 3.7ghz+ easy. Unstable for me at 3.85ghz without heavy voltage which I didn't want to do.

So in summary, I had a 100% success rate on both unlocking 2nd core and overclocking to 3.52 on all 4 chips on the Sabertooth 990FX.

On the MSI board, I had similar overclocking results but only one of the same 4 Sempron 140 chips unlocked the 2nd core.
