Thanks Grouch, Yes it means paratrooper,
Im at 2.4 ghz now running 57 max temp at 7.25 volts :) 3dmark all night stable :) Need some better ram and Im going to try 2.5

I'm using a Vantec AreoFlow with the TMD fan on it... nice and quiet. this is most likely why I can't stablize this cpu @2.5GHz and beyond. I've posted and logged onto winxp @ 2.5GHz but locks up then goes into a spiral downfall. (lots of BSOD) Have posted and gotten into windows @2.6Ghz @Vcore 1.9v... but again this heat sink doesn't do this cpu justice. Antec 400 Smart PwrSupply
does the trick so far. will be getting the SLK-900-U for $47.00
includes shipping from bestbyte.net. get it while it's this low!

any other tips for info would be greatly appreciated and thanks in advance.

i just got my chip today!!!! just came back from picking it up. its a
AXDA1700DLT3C 9591037282320
JIUHB 0319WPMW

i think that is a good chip by the coding. ill test it out later. (i cant wait till i get water cooling and then i overclock the **** out of the chip)

i just ran the seti bench at 2556 and it has been running since last night without locking up but it wont run prime everything else is great though

if you don't mind me asking, what's your memory timing set at? also what are your vcore volts and temps @ idle/loads? thanks in advance. :)

memory is crucial 2x256 crucial 2700 @ 2.5-2-2-5
vcore is 1.952 temps are a little high @ 50 on a warm day loaded and 44 idle but lower then that on a cool day my 2100+ ran a bunch cooler

Know this is a bit late, but going by what glock19owner stated about finding out your stable multi running @ 133fsb.... Used Hot Cpu tester pro and SuperPI to run test for 10mins.

2.141GHz@ 16x133 v1.5 vcore 34c/36c (idle/load)
2.200GHz@ 16.5x133 v1.55 vcore 36c/38c
2.276GHz@ 17x133 v1.60 core 36c/40.5c

no errors were noted during the 10mins of testing each multi@133FSB. Makes sense to me since by starting out at stock'd multi/vcore, i got the following:
@stock'd vcore 11x166 = 1.826GHz
@stock'd vcore 11x200 = 2.200GHz
So, this chip from SVC does rock... ample with speed and vcore adjustments. NF2-S mobo does have some tricks to help but how much time do you spend finding that "ultimate" speed with aircooling? Stable for me would be to run any of my games without lockup or BSOD's... NFS2HP, Day of Defeat(which hasn't crashed yet) Quake 3and the likes works find for me @ 200FSB...
it's the memory timings for this board which kicks my ***... trying to find which mem timings work for 220-230FSB just as soon as I can get my SLK-900U. No need to try if my curring VantechAeroflow can't keep up with the output heat that this thing puts out.
Hitechjob1 (i believe that who's been posting) has the greatest posting on CPU wattages/pwr supply usage with all the physics drawn out for you guys... this is where a great pwr supply and heatsink combo will get you those speeds that your looking for, abiet the noise level for air cooling mind you.

mine might be here monday. in ft worth right now, 300 miles away at fedex...monday....i just hope that thermaltake gets me my new fan in time to get this system all up and running. and then i'll know if i need to order the sk-7.

lilbuddy, i'd stay away from the sk-7 and go for the slk-800 or slk-800u... this depends on your mobo if it has the 4 holes around the cpu. sk-7 isn't a bad cpu cooler, but to keep you from losing alot of ground oc'ing this cpu, get the 800u... you won't go wrong.

I'm thinking about cooling my 1700+ 0319 with my thermalright ax-7 and this little fan which cranks out 50 CFM at full blast. Think it will do the job needed for a good OC on this chip?
I'ts keeping my current set up running just fine but I guess these things just kind of differ.

::knif_00::

how much diff in temp is there between the sk7 and the slk800? i heard it is about 1-2 degrees. i'll be running it with a smart fan 2 once it gets here from thermaltake

my SK7 is barely keeping it in line so im gonna wait for the water cooling setup before i overclock the shiiiiiit out of this chip.

right now im at 180*11.5 @default Vcore (1.5)

something wrong with this picture. My 1800+ dut3c is at 1.8v and 34/40 idle/load with an sk7 and 34cfm fan.

johnoh

Before you start rattling the sabre on the sk-7, believe my there was nothing wrong with the heatsink when it came out, however, with newer designs and added copper to the slk-800u, there is more than a marginal difference. the 80mm fan can push more air effectively than your 60mm fan on your sk-7. I have an AX-7 on my xp2100 (0251) with the vantec 80mm (84cfm) pushing 2.490GHz. Yet the AX-7 design isn't as efffective as the newer models coming out from Thermalright. You use what you can to keep these little demon of a cpu cool... You use the best that you can afford to keep these demon OC'ing to the max. The .02 difference may not mean much, but if you're pushing every ounce of MHz out of the cpu, that's were the diffence lies in.
