There are places where you can find the Intel PIV 2.4C (that will be the lowest-end one with a 200MHz bus and hyperthreading). What you’ll pay for it is a whole different story.
The official Intel pricing on the 2.4C will be $178; the pricing on the 2.6C will be $213.
Pricewatch pricing generally comes in at around the Intel official price (expect for particular popular models, where it slips 5-10% below it).
Some places have been charging $50 or even $100 more than the official prices for these chips.
You’ll be paying enough for a PIV platform as it is. A little patience can save you some money that you can apply elsewhere.
Is $50-$100 worth a few days of (mostly self-perceived) glory?
