Likely something to do with Win 8.1, I have that on my HTPC and it can be a turd to work with at times.

Gotcha. I might just go back to 7. I've been having issues with networking to my xbmc box with 8.1. Just waiting on a new ssd I just purchased from dragonhunter.
 
I'm going to hold out and upgrade it to Win10 when it's available just to see what it's like. Can't be much worse.
 
Apparently it does but according to massman when I was in Montreal he says that broadwell will work with it ( no cheating) but not the older gen CPUs
 
Yes , I know it's a surprise that Intel and M$ were working together.
It all started with the question of what the Bot will do in terms of OS and discontinued support.
